On July 22nd 2022, a statue of Alexander Hamilton was unveiled in Nevis, the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton in the West Indies. The statue, which is located in front of the Nevis Assembly house, was commissioned by the Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society with a donation by Mr. Robin Sommers and was created by sculptor Benjamin Victor.
The unveiling of the statue was attended by members of the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society, as well as the Premier of St. Kitts and Nevis, Hon. Mark Brantley. In his speech, Premier Brantley spoke about Hamilton’s legacy as one of the Founding Fathers of the United States and his achievements as the First Secretary of Treasure, and Founder of the US Coast Guard among others. Premier Brantly praised Hamilton by saying “It reminds us that we are never limited by the station of our birth, only by the extent of our ambition and imagination.”
The statue of Alexander Hamilton is a fitting tribute to one of the most influential figures in American history.
